Back Acne Treatment, what the Doctors don't want you to know.
Acne is the most common form of skin condition effecting 90% of people at some time. It occurs mostly on the face and, to a lesser extent on the BACK, chest and shoulders.
What to look for
Acne is more common in males and begins typically at puberty, but in its severest forms can effect some into their 40's and even 50's, and the most common symptoms of acne are:-
• Superficial Pustules (pus at tip of follicle)
• Whiteheads or Blackheads
• Cysts, bumps that do not discharge pus at the surface.
• Nodules of pus deep in the skin
• Deep pustules which effect surrounding tissue leaving scars.
Causes of Acne
Acne has its beginning in the pilosebaceous unit of the skin, which consists of the hair follicle and associated sebaceous glands, these in turn are connected to the skin by the follicular canal through which the hair shaft passes.
Acne is a result of the sebaceous gland being stimulated by androgens (male sex hormones) which are at their highest during puberty, and effect both sexes.
Acne begins when the follicular canal gets blocked, which leads to a ballooning of the top of the canal forming a blackhead or whitehead. When this duct gets blocked enzymes are released to break down the sebum and cause the inflammation linked to acne, it when this inflammatory response results in the breakdown of surrounding tissue that scarring is formed.
Vicious Circle
The effects of Acne on the sufferer should not be underestimated, in it's severest form, Cystic Acne, it can leave deep permanent scarring, as well as effecting a persons self esteem it can also effect relationships and career prospects.
Many consider stress to be a factor in the cause of acne and due to the stress and anxiety a sufferer feels this can form a vicious circle, due to the low self esteem, a sufferer can neglect their diet and cleanliness which in turn fuels the acne outbreak.
